Overview

We are seeking a talented Senior Financial Analyst to join our Finance team and provide dedicated support to a specific business unit within the organization. The Senior Financial Analyst will play a critical role in driving financial planning, analysis, and decision-making processes to optimize the performance and profitability of the business unit. This position reports directly to the Divisional Finance Director.

 

This is a hybrid position based in Washington, DC. 

Responsibilities

Financial Analysis & Reporting:

  • Prepare monthly financial reports, variance analysis, and key performance indicators (KPIs) to assess the business unit's performance against budget, forecast, and prior periods.
  • Analyze product, customer, and market segment profitability to identify opportunities for revenue growth, cost optimization, and margin improvement.
  • Provide ad-hoc financial analyses and decision support to business unit leaders to evaluate strategic initiatives, investment opportunities, and operational improvements.

 

Budget Management & Cost Control:

  • Monitor and track actual performance against budget and forecast, identifying variances and working with business partners to understand root causes and implement corrective actions.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to develop and implement cost control initiatives, efficiency improvements, and process enhancements to drive profitability and operational excellence.
  • Support the development of business cases and ROI analysis for capital expenditures, new product launches, and other strategic investments.

Qualifications

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, or related field; MBA or advanced degree preferred.
  • 5+ years of progressive experience in financial analysis, planning, and reporting, preferably in a business unit support or FP&A role.
  • Strong proficiency in financial modeling, forecasting techniques, and data analysis tools (e.g., Excel, PowerPoint, Netsuite, Microsoft BI).
  • Solid understanding of accounting principles, financial metrics, and performance measurement concepts.
  • Excellent analytical skills with the ability to synthesize complex data into actionable insights and recommendations.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to collaborate effectively across functions and influence decision-making at all levels of the organization.
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic environment and manage multiple priorities with attention to detail and accuracy.
