Overview

As a Manager within the Expert Witness Services team at Consilio, you will play a pivotal role in the company. As part of an international investigation team, you will conduct digital forensic investigations and relay findings that are integral to high-stakes litigation.

Your consulting practices and technical expertise will provide our clients with the comprehensive insights they need to achieve their objectives out of forensic analysis, ensuring they receive accurate, timely, and legally sound conclusions that support their decision-making and legal processes. It is essential to embrace your investigative mindset, as well as follow our established workflows as this combination will enhance the quality and effectiveness of our forensic analysis services. You will support the continuous development and improvement to our forensic investigation services.

Responsibilities

  • Respond in a timely manner to both internal and external stakeholders.
  • Confidently report complex technical information to non-technical clients.
  • Manage projects, end to end independently (consulting through to delivery of findings).
  • Act as the primary point of contact for clients during investigations, ensuring clear communication, understanding of client needs, and delivery of high-quality results.
  • Present findings in court or legal proceedings as an expert witness, if required.
  • Perform forensic investigations and reporting from physical devices, predominately Computers and Mobile Devices.
  • Perform forensic investigations and reporting from corporate systems, predominately Microsoft M365 and Google Vault.
  • Leverage experience with forensic tools, including Encase, FEC, FTK, Axiom, Oxygen, and Cellebrite, to investigate digital data sources.
  • Independently perform remote collections where required forensic analysis.
  • Independently conduct local onsite collections in a defensible manner where required (Occasionally).
  • Conduct testing and research for new workflows and methodologies, as requested.
  • Training and mentoring junior staff
  • Oversee end-to-end digital forensic investigations conducted by junior staff.
  • QC and review investigation reports and affidavits
  • Demonstrate flexibility and a willingness to adapt to business needs by carrying out tasks and responsibilities as directed.
  • Collaborate effectively with colleagues and leadership, ensuring that decisions and actions are aligned with the best interests of the business.

Qualifications

Minimum Experience Requirements: 

  • Bachelor’s degree in forensic computing or equivalent relevant experience.
  • 6-8 years of progressively responsible experience in related forensic and consulting roles.
  • Testimony Experience
  • At least one certification related to forensic investigations (examples – GIAC, EnCase, Cellebrite, Nuix, CFE)

  • Displays a high degree of comfort operating in a corporate client-facing environment.
  • Ability to thrive in a highly collaborative team environment.
  • Manage your workload effectively and remain flexible with working hours when needed to meet investigation deadlines and client needs.
  • Willingness to handle urgent investigations with tight deadlines and manage multiple investigations simultaneously where required.
  • Excellent corporate communication skills – both written and verbal.
  • High level of attention to detail/Investigative mindset.
  • Strong sense of discretion and ability to handle sensitive and confidential information securely.
  • Proficiency with digital forensics tools such as Axiom, EnCase, FTK, X-Ways.
  • Proficiency with mobile device forensics tools such as Cellebrite, Oxygen, XRY.
  • Understanding of computer file systems and operating systems (Windows, macOS).
  • Understanding of mobile file systems and operating systems (iOS, Andriod).
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Availability for short notice or weekend work, including occasional travel when necessary.

Preferred Attributes:

  • Testimony experience.
  • Familiarity with corporate email system environments and logging capabilities.
  • Understanding relevant laws related to cybercrime, data protection and digital evidence handling.
  • Scripting: PowerShell, Python, et al.
