Overview

This role will serve as a Virtualization Engineer specializing in VMware virtualization technology, Compute Hardware and Public Cloud. The candidate in this role will participate in installation, support and business continuity for virtualization server technologies globally. Hardware knowledge will include various hardware platforms as well as other bare metal technologies. Installation, troubleshooting, and support of various Server Operating Systems is required for this position. The candidate must be able to support a Global 24x7 operation. 

Responsibilities

  • Administration, maintenance, configuration, and ongoing support of Virtual infrastructure  
  • Support administration, maintenance, configuration of Cisco Unified Computing System (UCS), HP and Dell Blade Server infrastructures 
  • installation, configuration and maintenance of VMWare vSphere technologies: vCenter, ESXi. 
  • implementing and administering VMWare hosting environments 
  • Basic support administration, configuration and maintenance of our Cloud assets in AWS and Azure. 
  • Resolve complex enterprise system hardware and hypervisor problems; collaborate with peer teams and vendors to coordinate solutions 
  • Analyze system requirements in response to projects, resource management, etc. Recommend actions for performance tuning and capacity planning of existing systems
  • Develop and maintain installation and configuration procedures
  • Coordinate support escalation communication; participate in the development and maintenance of appropriate project technical documentation including design, configuration, and installation, including off hours support
  • Manages ticket requests in the Virtualization Queue from Service Desk Helpdesk system.  
  • Follows Change Management guidelines for implementing upgrades or operational changes. 

 

Additional Responsibilities/Details:   

  • Virtualization system administrator experience, preferably in mid-Large Enterprise Level Data Centers 
  • Solid System Administration skills in VMware and Windows server. 
  • VMware experience supporting Vcenter/ESXi should include installation, implementation, performance monitoring, optimization, and troubleshooting.  
  • Good understanding of HA, VMotion, and DRS Cluster environment. 
  • Basic Storage configuring of DataStores, RDMs, Storage policies etc. 
  • Good hands-on Experience in diagnostics & troubleshooting of ESXi server environment.  
  • Bare metal virtualization (P2V) 
  • Virtual machine to Virtual Machine (V2V)  
  • Basic understanding of Cloud technologies (AWS/Azure) 
  • VMWare Vsphere Power CLI Scripting and automation 
  • Experience in configuration and troubleshooting of vSphere replication, vRealize Automation, Orchestration, SRM, and NSX is an added advantage. 
  • Familiar with Storage protocols, including, but not limited to, NFS, iSCSI, Fiber Channel, SMB 
  • Basic understanding of Kubernetes/Tanzu 
  • Basic understanding of containers 
  • installing, configuring, troubleshooting and performing maintenance of Linux server products  
  • installing, configuring, troubleshooting and performing maintenance of MS Window server products (MS Windows 2016 thru 2022) 
  • Moderate understanding of IP and IP related protocols 

Qualifications

  • Bachelor degree required  

 

Minimum Experience Requirements:    

  • 5+ years of progressively responsible experience in related roles 

Other Requirements:    

  • Preferred certifications required: VCP 
  • must possess excellent customer service skills (in person, email and over the phone). 
  • Strong written, and oral communication skills with the ability to work well in a collaborative environment. 
  • must be able to work in a team environment and independently. 
  • must have excellent organization skills, problem-solving/analytical skills, and multitasking skills.
