Overview

The Senior Data Scientist in the Research & Rapid Prototyping team will play a pivotal role in enhancing our eDiscovery solutions through the development, optimization, and implementation of Large Language Models (LLMs) and other advanced technologies. This role is crucial for maintaining our competitive edge in legal tech by continually improving our offerings with state-of-the-art models tailored to the nuances of enterprise documents and legal language.

Responsibilities

  • LLM Specialization: Take the lead in implementing and fine-tuning Large Language Models for use in eDiscovery, focusing on enhancing their applicability and efficiency in processing and analyzing legal documents, such as emails and PDFs.
  • Benchmark Creation: Develop benchmarks to evaluate the performance of models and solutions, ensuring they meet high standards of accuracy and utility in legal-specific tasks.
  • Statistical Analysis & NLP: Employ statistical analysis and traditional Natural Language Processing (NLP) techniques to extract insights and improve the understanding of enterprise and legal documents.
  • Independent Research: Design and conduct experiments to test state-of-the-art (SOTA) models for domain-specific tasks, working independently to advance the team's goals.
  • Rapid Prototyping: Quickly prototype new ideas and solutions to demonstrate how emerging technologies can be used in practice, demonstrating the ability to adapt and innovate in response to emerging technologies and methodologies.
  • Multi-modal and Graph DBs: (Nice to have) Work with multi-modal data (images, audio etc) and explore the integration of Knowledge Graphs, Graph Neural Networks (GNNs) and other emerging technologies to enrich our solutions.

Qualifications

  • Modern NLP Experience: Solid background in working with LLMs, statistical analysis, traditional NLP, and handling enterprise documents, particularly legal documents.

  • Communication: Excellent verbal and written communication abilities, with a knack for asking insightful questions, openly admitting knowledge gaps, and effectively collaborating with team members.
  • Multi-Disciplinary Collaboration: Ability to work closely with multi-disciplinary professionals, both within and outside the Research & Rapid Prototyping team, to complete projects and achieve goals.
  • Self-Starter: Demonstrated ability to initiate projects, "have a go," and navigate through ambiguity with minimal guidance.
  • Learning Agility: Eagerness to learn about the legal domain to better understand the data and its complexities.
  • Experimental Mindset: Comfortable with trial and error, willing to admit and learn from failures, and not shy away from trying new approach
