Overview

The Sr. Paralegal is a client-dedicated role that supports the client’s North America (NAM) litigation department. In this role you will serve as a Sr. Paralegal and will support the attorneys and collaborate with team paralegals.   Together, you will deliver world-class support to multiple litigation and legal matters.  You will interact with in-house counsel, and outside counsel to help collect documents in preparation of litigation.  As a Sr. Paralegal, you foster a collaborative environment with a can-do attitude and a vision of excellence, inclusivity, and compassion while also being process-oriented and striving for efficiency.

Responsibilities

Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for supporting activities related to case development on multiple matters.
  • Analyze and accurately update client systems with case data and support scheduling of witness interviews and meetings between client and outside counsel.
  • Effectively and efficiently take direction in a fast-paced decision-making environment.
  • Draft routine legal documents for review and use by attorneys.
  • Compile documents and support drafting of discovery responses.
  • Categorize and interpret data; review and analyze reports, responses and records produced by opposing counsel.
  • Coordinate requests between multiple parties involved in litigation by way of consistent communication with client, claims and full partnership with attorney through end of case.
  • Support NAM litigation team in achieving timely monthly report updates from outside counsel; support client internal legal function reporting requirements.
  • Support NAM litigation team in other administrative support, as needed.

Qualifications

Minimum Education Requirements:   

  • Bachelor's degree required or equivalent experience

 

Minimum Experience Requirements:  

  • 7+ years experience with law firms or in-house litigation required
  • Global / Multinational experience is a plus due to global nature of the client; some people management skills is a plus
  • Must possess ability to prioritize and organize high volumes of work at peak case development intervals
  • Trial support exposure in the US is a plus
  • College degree required
  • Proficiency in MS Office (Word, Excel, Outlook) and ability to learn and adapt new systems

Other Requirements:  

  • Must be located in Houston, Texas area
  • Strong communication skills, including the ability to convey complex technical concepts in a simple and concise manner
