Job Summary:

Global firm seeking fulltime Linux Server Engineer in India. The Linux Server Engineer is responsible for resolving escalated service issues, coaching other engineers to resolutions, engineering and implementing complex projects, and for maintaining and overseeing the technical infrastructure of the company.

Responsibilities

  • Administration, maintenance, configuration, and ongoing support of Linux Server infrastructure
  • Understand and provide necessary evidence for all compliance and security controls
  • Control and monitor user access to the systems
  • Conduct security and compliance related scans, remediating vulnerabilities and other findings as necessary
  • Serve as point of contact with third party vendors for technical support
  • Assist as necessary with any other assigned duties that may arise
  • installation, configuration, maintenance, and lifecycle management of Linux Server (RedHat, Ubuntu, CentOS, etc.)
  • designing, implementing, migrating, and administering Linux environments
  • Resolve complex enterprise system problems; collaborate with peer teams and vendors to coordinate solutions
  • Analyze system requirements in response to projects, resource management, etc. Recommend actions for performance tuning and capacity planning of existing systems
  • Develop and maintain installation and configuration procedures
  • Coordinate support escalation communication; participate in the development and maintenance of appropriate project technical documentation including design, configuration, and installation, including off hours support
  • Mentor subordinate members of the Server team.
  • Manages ticket requests in the Server Queue from our Helpdesk system.
  • Follows Change Management guidelines for implementing upgrades or operational changes.

Qualifications

  • Experience with Enterprise Antivirus solutions
  • Experience with Enterprise patch management solutions
  • Background with script writing especially PowerShell, python, Ansible, Terraform, etc.
  • Basic experience with automation methods
  • Basic understanding of Kubernetes
  • Basic understanding of containers
  • Understanding of network design and administration and networking protocols
  • Understanding of server IP protocols and services - DNS, DHCP, PKI, IIS
  • Understanding of security tools and software – anti-virus, malware, firewalls
  • Solid understanding of OS patching solutions for Linux distributions
  • Hands-on software and hardware troubleshooting experience.
  • Virtualization system administrator experience, preferably in mid- Enterprise Level Data Centers
  • Good understanding of HA, Vmotion, and DRS Cluster environment.
  • Basic understanding of Storage configuring of Datastores, RDMs, Storage policies etc.
  • Basic understanding of Cloud technologies (AWS/Azure)
  • Familiar with Storage protocols, including, but not limited to, NFS, iSCSI, Fiber Channel, SMB

 

Minimum Education Requirements:

  • Bachelor degree minimum required
  • Minimum Experience Requirements:
  • 5 years’ experience in related roles
  • Industry recognized certifications (Red hat, CompTIA Linux +, LPIC1, etc.) highly desirable
