Overview

About the Firm

Consilio is partnering with a national law firm to find the right fit to lead their California office operations.  This firm is expanding into California and seeking a senior litigation attorney to help establish and lead its first office in the state. The firm is known for sophisticated client work, a highly collaborative culture, and a practical approach to serving clients. This is a non-partnership-track role for an experienced attorney who wants to remain actively engaged in legal practice while helping build a new office and team in the Greater Los Angeles area focused on automotive breach of warranty litigation defense.

The Opportunity

The Senior Litigation Attorney - California Office Lead will manage a California automotive breach of warranty defense docket while helping launch and grow the firm’s local presence. The attorney will initially lead two attorneys directly and will play an important role in shaping the office’s culture, working practices, and future growth.

This opportunity is well suited to someone energized by building something new. The successful candidate will bring strong litigation judgment, a hands-on leadership style, and the composure to deliver high-quality work within tight timeframes. The position will be connected to a physical office in the Greater Los Angeles area and will require a regular in-office cadence.

Responsibilities

Litigation and Client Service

  • Manage an active docket of California automotive breach of warranty, Song-Beverly, Lemon Law, and related automotive warranty defense matters
  • Lead matters from initial assessment through resolution or trial, including discovery, depositions, motion practice, settlement strategy, and trial preparation
  • Develop practical case strategies that balance legal risk, client objectives, cost, and timing
  • Serve as a trusted day-to-day advisor to clients and maintain clear, responsive communication
  • Oversee the quality, consistency, and timely delivery of work across the docket
  • Coordinate engagement with national counsel and legal project management professionals
  • Collaborate with attorneys and business professionals across the firm to support client needs
  • Contribute to the continued growth of client relationships and the California practice

Office and Team Leadership

  • Help establish the firm’s first California office and translate firmwide standards into effective local practices
  • Provide direct leadership, supervision, and development to an initial team of two to six attorneys
  • Partner with firm leadership and business professionals on staffing, workflow, technology, facilities, and other operational needs
  • Build a respectful, collaborative environment where attorneys and professional staff are treated as valued partners in the work
  • Set clear expectations, address issues directly, and remain composed and solutions-oriented under pressure
  • Support future recruiting and team development as the office and client base grow
  • Act as a visible, hands-on leader who is willing to contribute wherever needed during the office’s early development

Qualifications

Required

  • D. from an accredited law school
  • Active membership in the California State Bar and in good standing
  • Significant experience defending automotive breach of warranty, Song-Beverly, Lemon Law, or closely related automotive consumer warranty matters
  • Substantial California litigation experience, including ownership of case strategy and an active docket
  • Demonstrated ability to lead attorneys and work effectively with paralegals and other professional staff
  • Strong knowledge of California civil procedure, evidentiary standards, and litigation practices
  • Excellent judgment, legal writing, oral advocacy, and client communication skills
  • Ability to perform effectively under tight deadlines while maintaining composure and attention to detail
  • Willingness to work from a Greater Los Angeles office on a regular cadence

Preferred

  • First-chair trial, arbitration, or significant hearing experience
  • Experience managing a high-volume litigation portfolio
  • Experience helping launch, grow, or lead a law firm office or legal team
  • Established relationships in the automotive, manufacturing, insurance, or consumer warranty sectors
  • A record of strengthening client relationships or contributing to practice growth

Leadership Profile

The right candidate will combine the credibility of an experienced litigator with the mindset of a builder. They will be practical, responsive, and willing to solve problems rather than wait for perfect conditions. They will appreciate the opportunity to join at the ground floor and take personal ownership of the office’s success.

Just as important, this individual will treat colleagues and professional staff with respect. The firm is looking for a grounded, low-ego leader who values teamwork, keeps perspective under pressure, and creates an environment where people can do their best work.

Why Join

  • Build and help shape a new California office from the ground floor
  • Remain an active litigator while taking on meaningful leadership responsibility
  • Lead an initial team with the opportunity to help grow the office over time
  • Access the resources, infrastructure, and client relationships of an established national firm
